Responding to the Rubric:
A. Knowledge and understanding of the text or extract.  To what extent does the commentary
show knowledge and understanding of the text? Are the comments supported by well-chosen references to the text?

When looking at the first Criterion of the IB rubric I do in fact think that I did do a really god job at answering the question with the evidence that supported my claims.  I think that I did this effectively be not having too many quotes, but at the same time the ones that I did use, they were heavily reinforced with information and commentary on the subject.  But in the last argument I was a bit lacking on the examples because I was a bit short on time. B. Understanding of the use and effects of literary features. To what extent does the commentary show an awareness of how the literary features in the text (for example, structure, technique and style) are used to construct meaning? To what extent does the commentary show understanding of the effects of literary features?

After listening to the commentary I think that I did a really good job of using these examples from the section of the text in aiding the argument that I was trying to make.  This is because I was able to use the different devices, and the structure, etc. in order to construct the developments that I was trying to make in response to the prompt. (9)

C. Organization How well organized is the commentary? How coherent is the structure?

I had a very coherent structure to my argument, meaning that I had an introduction to the test, then my thesis, then my three main arguments, then ended with a concluding statement.  In addition I used my arguments in order that I think was the best to support my claim in my thesis. (5)

D.  Language How clear, varied and accurate is the language? How appropriate is the choice of register and style? (“Register” refers, in this context, to the student’s use of elements such as vocabulary, tone, sentence structure and terminology appropriate to the commentary.)

After reviewing the recording for the most part I think that I did use very formal language and decent vocabulary in my talk.  I think that throughout I did maintain a very professional tone and tried really hard not to use a lot of filler words like (like, um, etc.).  I do think that I can work on my speed in which I was talking at though, because it was a bit slow. 2. John-
    - Evidence of structure and organization; good thesis. Be sure you keep linking back to those key ideas to prove how they are developed in the passage
    - Make sure you are really looking at the passage ONLY- there are places where you are kinda veering into "book club"
    - I agree with your feedback to yourself about thinking about author's purpose/effect on reader AND about organization.
